Bet you thought I'd forgotten about you

I know, I know ... its been too long since I wrote in this blog.  I blame the summer (which I know is long gone) because I don't crochet so much in the summer ... I've got a few half finished projects that I just couldn't sum up the "bothered" to finish.

My shape sorter stalled at three sides !! Not much of a shape sorter really, I think I need to revisit the circle side anyway - it didn't turn out so circular in the end ... So I guess the shape sorter is really two sides and a experiement went wrong.  I'll need to get back to that one again at some point.

The giant rose project stalled as well - I have the giant rose and decided to make it into a tie-together Alice band .  So I have the rose and half (if that) an Alice band ... then this one was abandoned as well.

Now I've had a request for a pattern for my Red Cowl

Crochet cowl

I should have thought of writing it down at the time - I usually do, but not this time.  So I need to make another so that I can get the pattern right ....

So that will leave me one 1/3 finished shape sorter, one 3/4 finished Alice band and another project on the go .... Plus a holiday (Hoooooo-ray) coming up next week - I see this ending in a third half finished project, well at least I am starting to think about picking up my hook again, I suppose that is progress of a sort.

Crochet Cowl is finished

With a little concentration ... I managed to finish the cowl.

This picture is a bit shoddy, but it was taken on my phone :)  I'll have to wait until the weekend to take some daylight shots properly & then I'll be able to list it on Walnut Baby.

Arrgh button holes

I am trying to create the button holes for my cowl ... how hard could it be!!!  I've so far created the row 3 times and ripped back.

I am blaming Edward Cullen ... I was watching Twilight at the same time, so I figure I was distracted LOL

The "problem" is that with the trinity stitch there are the CH stitches between each trinity, so when I am creating my chains for the button holes I am having problems making them evenly spaced while keeping the hole sizes reasonable.

I wanted to have 3 buttons, perhaps I should try with just two and see if that works any better.

Crochet Cowl

My next creation is a crochet cowl. I haven't tried one of these before so its a bit trial and error to get the size right.

I want it to have an interesting texture so I am using Trinity stitch.

I am using Sirdar Softie super chunky yarn & getting the right hook size has been a challenge, I started with an 8mm but have decided to move up to a 12mm hook as it was coming out a bit stiff & tight.

I am planning to fasten the cowl with a couple or maybe 3 very large buttons.
